Artist Statement
As a surrealist and feminist oil painter, I delve into the realm of personal experience, crafting my art around the intricate path of contemporary womanhood. Drawing from my own journey, I meticulously explore the nuanced struggles and triumphs faced by women today, rooted in the rich soil of historical context. Themes of inadequacy, consent, conformity, sexism, and body standards are laid bare, as a testament to the complexities of feminine existence. My work serves to reflecting the multifaceted nature of my consciousness, capturing the physical, mental, and emotional landscapes with raw honesty. Through vibrant colors and patterns, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in the surreal, dreamlike world where figurative forms interact with visually busy backgrounds, to spark interpretation on multiple levels. In celebrating the resilience and strength of women, my paintings offer both critique and a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle and beauty that is life.
